10 SKY SAILOR March-April-May | AUTUMN 2025 day for the Floater classes with only three of the 15 pilots in goal. A notable effort was by ‘Shredder’, who was too low on final and flew around the town to give himself landing options. He had goal dis- tance but landed outside the circle. “I could hear the sound of goal beers being opened,” he later said. Day 2 and 3 were both cancelled at the morning briefing in town due to possible thunderstorms and strong ‘over the back’ wind. On one of these days, Steve Blen- kinsop and Scott Barrett presented a pilot workshop at the Colac Colac ‘Clack Clack’ Caravan Park that was entertaining and informative. Thanks guys! Day 4 and our second task had the Open and Sport guys flying a task we have seen many times over the years because of its spectacular nature: Mt Elliot > Walwa > Cudgewa West > Corryong. The first leg of 32km saw pilots climbing over Mt Mit- tamatite’s ‘hot rocks’, then Pine Mountain on the way to the turnpoint at Walwa. The next leg involved 28km of toe pointing and ‘best glide’ while crossing the massive Burrowa-Pine Mountain, followed by a left turn at Cudgewa West, then goal at Corryong for a total of 88km. Again, most of the topless made the goal. Unfortunate- ly, all Sport pilots landed out on course. The Floaters had a 28km task of Mt Elliot > Tintaldra > Mt Mittamatite > Corryong. Five pilots made goal, this time Shredder was one, for his first ever competition goal. Yay! We love it when a pilot achieves a personal best at our competition. Task 3 was a tough day at the office. The Open/Sport task was an optimistic 75km course: Mt Elliot > Tooma > Pine Mountain > Halfway Hill > Towong > Corryong. Corryong Cup Hang Gliding Competition 2025
