30 SKY SAILOR March-April-May | AUTUMN 2025 Landing zone Paragliders and hang gliders can land on the beach only when it does not endanger a person on the ground, would not cause conflict with a vehicle on the beach and a Duty Pilot is satisfied that landings can be carried out safely. Site rules Paragliding and hang gliding in National Parks are only allowed under a permit from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS) who have issued one to the Sunshine Coast Free Flyers for its members to be allowed to fly from the Teewah glider launch and land on the beach. However, this comes with strict conditions, so there are some rules that need to be followed to ensure a safe and enjoyable flight for everyone. • Paraglider pilots must be a current SAFA member and a member of the Sunshine Coast Free Flyers Club . Hang gliders are also warmly welcomed at SCFF, or may join SCSA. • More than 10 pilots are not permitted on site at any one time and on weekends, public holidays and when there are five or more pilots, a Duty Pilot must be nominated.
