Initially there were over 10 Victorian pilots showing interest in a hang gliding holiday in Tasmania in December 2024. In the end, there were two – Andy Schmidt and Tracey Meyer – who were up to the challenge. During our seven day visit to Tasmania, local HG pilots Damian, Boris, Rob, Amber, Ren, Steve, and driver extraordinaire Angela were extremely welcoming and giving freely of their time and expertise. Andy was super keen to fly Eaglehawk Neck, so when Damian (aka Shredder) said it was on, there was much excitement in camp! We arrived at the lower launch to find the wind direction right but too light so made our way up to the top launch where the view was magnificent. We waited for about 90 minutes for the wind strength to improve while watching Hang Gliding is awesome in Tasmania
