33 AUTUMN 2025 | March-April-May SKY SAILOR the wind lines on the ocean. As the wind picked up, it turned more south, even though the wind lines on the water were showing the north-easterly we needed to launch. Andy launched during a brief cycle when the wind straightened up, had a two- hour flight and landed along the beach in a honking southerly. Unfortunately, Damian was left on the hill hang-waiting and even- tually packed up before Tracey and Angela froze to death. Next it was the big one… Mt Wellington! We hardly believed it was true, since we had heard of their ‘failure to launch’ here from many friends back in Victoria. The drive up the hill was smooth bitumen all the way, which is more than I can say for the carry-in to launch and the set-up area is quite rocky. However, both Andy and Damian took off like champions (Videos at HGComps.com ) . This was Damian’s first ever flight off Mt Wellington, when he landed down at the Cascade Brewery with Andy, he Damian at Eaglehawk Neck, Andy at Hope Beach, Damian and Andy at Mt Wellington, Damian, Angela, Amber, Renn, Tracey, Andy and Steve Photos: Tracey Meyer
