After an initial climb to 2364m AMSL, they were aware of some over-development occurring in the vicinity. PIC decided to glide south towards a cloud-free area to the east of Lake Keepit. Whilst on final, off the speedbar, into the intended landing paddock, and at 60m AGL they expe- rienced a second frontal collapse, which also recovered. PIC opted for an alternate landing spot but then identified a barbed wire fence at the downwind end. PIC then experienced bubbles of lift releasing, prolonging their descent. They applied big ears to increase the descent rate, but then drifted backwards, and released the ears as descent was regained. At 10m AGL, they realised contact with the fence was possible, with other obstructions downwind. They initiated a sharp right turn to line up into wind and impacted the ground whilst banked.
