They also help older pilots who have perhaps been out of the sport for a while or are a little uncomfortable flying their high performance gliders to get back into the sport or stay in the sport with the ‘Floater V’ category (the fastest growing category in the competition). Our new Meet Head this year was Brett Huggan, whilst Hughbert Alexander is having a well-earned sabbatical with his mistress ‘the sea’. Some of you may remember Brett from our previous auction nights at the Tintaldra Hotel, or from the Birchip Flatter than the Flatlands competi- tion, running a dance tutorial at the Birchip Pub. Phillip Campbell (sans beard) was the Competition Director, Wesley Hill, Tushar Polke were our Scorers, Andy Schmidt Tech Advisor and Tracey Meyer First Aid & Media and general Cat Herder. Helpers included, but were not limited to, Vic Hare (Weatherman), Darcy Kirkaldy (photogra- phy) and Neil Hook (Safety). At the 2024 Corryong Cup the compe- tition raised $6777 at mid-week raffle and auction night at the Tintaldra Hotel. The money was donated to the Corryong Ambulance Service for a wilderness kit and the Corryong Community Health Services to help upgrade their telehealth services with a cardiac module. This year, HG Comps mixed it up a bit with a Trivia Night at the Colac Colac Caravan Park on the Thursday night. Participants learned a bit more about their fellow competitors, drivers and sponsors.
