9 AUTUMN 2025 | March-April-May SKY SAILOR involved in a search for a missing hiker in the high country. Comp Director Phil spent a lot of time on the phone to various agencies to ensure the search teams were aware of our NOTAMS and Temporary Danger Area for the competition. Due to this increased air traffic to the north-east, the decision was made to not use Khanco- ban airfield for goal this year. The missing hiker was eventually found alive after many days. Day 1 had our task committee of Mitch, Dustan and Damian (a.k.a. Shredder) sending the Open and Sport class on a 50km lap of the Corryong Valley. Mt Elliot > Kangaroo Creek > Mt Mittamatite > Tintaldra > Towong > Corryong (Goal) next to the airport. The Floaters had a shorter 16km task of Mt Elliot > Kangaroo Creek > Corryong. Most of the ‘topless’ pilots made goal and Adrian Connor was the only Sport pilot to complete the task.
