May Canungra Jedi Glide Academy 2 to 4 May (Labour Day long weekend) Location: Canungra, SE QLD Description: After the successful last mentoring weekend, the Canungra crew brings back the Jedi Glide Academy – a supportive, fun, skills-focused long weekend for PG2/3 pilots. Mentored flying with experienced XC pilots, shared learning on task/XC decisions, practical safety tips and flight coaching, camping, evening BBQ and pilot chats, small groups so you actually progress. Whether you’re working toward your first XC, want to tick off some inland flights, improve decision-making, or just build confidence – this weekend is about flying more, learning faster, and doing it safely with guidance. Organiser: CHPC, sponsored by XC Mag and backed by Queensland Sports Aviators September Canungra Sports Cup 26 September to 3 October Location: Canungra, SE QLD Sanction: AA/FAI 2 Type: PG foot launch event Description: XC racing through the scenic rim area of SE QLD and northern NSW in the peak Canungra spring season. Limited to 70 pilots and Sports Class EN-C gliders and below to create a level playing field for all. Overall and day prizes for a host of categories. Social events/meals during the week will make for a fun week long event. Requirements: Pilots must carry/use personal Skylines tracking, have a valid VHF Airband radio operator’s license and carry Airband radio above 5000ft as per SAFA Ops protocol. No transport provided, launches are 2WD accessible, a list of local drivers will be provided to assist with retrieves.
