SAFA Skysailor Magazine

55 AUTUMN 2026 | March-April-May SKY SAILOR That’s just to name a few. Obviously, we all aim to avoid these events occurring, but what can you do to ensure this? Firstly, if you’re not familiar with the site, get a site briefing before you fly and ensure you have a firm grasp of the local hazards in all weather conditions. Next, if you’re unsure at all about whether conditions are suitable or not – don’t launch! Once in the air, remain clear of all obstacles, taking into account wind drift and potential sink. Maintain a glide path to a safe landing zone at all times. Monitor for changing conditions and ensure you still have a path to the LZ. If you are near a safe LZ and the next one appears to be beyond a safe glide, take the safer option if you can’t climb out. Let’s say, despite observing all of these factors, you are faced with a tree or water. What can you do? Forms and Documents SAFA Documents are now available in the Member Zone of the SAFA website .
