Scoring is GPS based and done via Airscore allowing pilots to upload .igc files directly to the scoring website so everyone can keep track. Several prizes will be handed out at the pre- sentation BBQ, including Open A Class, Open B Class, Sports Class, Floater Class, Floater V, The ‘winning-est’ team as well as the Steve Elliot ‘Spirit of the Comp’ Award and the Trevor Scott ‘Hold my Bundy’ Award. The presentation BBQ will be held at the Colac Colac Caravan Park on Saturday 15 January from 7pm with loads of food, fun, drinks and awards. The BBQ will be provided by Corryong Rotary and is included in pilot entries, however, tickets must be purchased for drivers, partners and kids. The diversity of this competition is what makes it unique to Australia and one of the most in-demand events of the year. Pilots are expected from all over Australia as well as internationally. Forbes Flatlands HG Championships 16 to 23 January 2024 The 2024 Forbes Flatlands HG Championships will be hosted for its 19th year in the western NSW township. Towing for the nine-day event will be from the ‘Bill’s paddock’, north of Forbes airport, fondly named BMIA or ‘Bill Moyes Inter- national Airport’. Headquarters will be based at the Forbes Aeroclub, which has been the location over the last few years. Having the headquarters near Bill’s paddock allows pilots to have a later morning briefing and come out to the Forbes Aeroclub ready to fly! “Registrations have already started rolling in and it’s exciting to see that we will be welcoming international pilots once again to Forbes,” said event organiser, Vicki Cain. “We’ll have three World Champions competing this year including the current Women’s World Champion, Alexandra Serebrennikova (Austria), a previous Women’s World Champion, Francoise Dieuzeide-Banet (France), and Attila Bertok (Hungary), 2007 World Champion!” Vicki added.
