15 January | February 2024 SKY SAILOR XC Manilla Camp 20 to 27 January 2024 This popular PG event is completely free for registered pilots of all levels who want to improve their skills and distance in XC flying. Mt Borah, just north of Manilla in the North West Slopes and Plains region of NSW, is Australia’s premier hill launch XC flying site and attracts hundreds of local, national and international pilots every year. “The XC Camp event gives pilots the opportunity to take to the skies as many days as they choose, to fly XC as far as they can, and learn from some of the best pilots around the world in a friendly atmosphere,” said Manilla Paragliding’s Godfrey Wenness. In the past, pilots have regularly flown 200km, even over 300km, and novice pilots have achieved PBs over 100km. With its small hills and ridges dotted amongst the flatlands in front of Mt Borah, the flying region has plenty of thermal triggers, easy navigation on big XC flights, and reliable mobile phone and radio coverage. Mt Borah is an inland mountain with a height of 880m and is suitable for PG-2 and HG intermediate pilots. It is a world-class flying site, with four vast astro-turfed launches for nearly all directions, and offers the highest level of safety for learn- ing to fly XC. Camping and cabins onsite are available for bookings, with two communal kitchens, a BBQ, bar, swimming pool and WiFi throughout. For more details visit flymanilla.com .
