Lessons learned When negotiating with government departments, be prepared for the long haul and keep a detailed history, in fact keep two: One you can immediately share with the department you are working with, in case they need a reminder of their position to date or had a staff change, the other more detailed timeline should contain all decision points of both parties and more internal discussion information, in case internally you need to hand it over to someone else.
