32 SKY SAILOR December-January-February | SUMMER 2025 Flying Site Overview: Rosins Lookout, Beechmont Home to the annual Canungra Cup, Rosins Lookout at Beechmont in the Gold Coast Hinterland, has become a famous Australian free flying area, with the summer months ideal for long XC flights. Beechmont is an east facing launch overlooking the picturesque Numinbah valley with distant views to the Gold Coast skyline in the east, and Mount Warning to the south on a good day. Rosins Lookout is frequented by the Canungra Hang Gliding Club for com- petitive and recreational use along with several other sites around the tree-lined mountains and farmland below. The site can only be accessed by Canungra HG Club pilots and their guests, so you will need to make sure you are in company of a club member when you visit. The site is not suitable for PG2 rated pilots, and PG3 pilots are required to have at least one site briefing from a Safety Officer or Duty Pilot before flying unsupervised.
