SAFA Skysailor Magazine
52 SKY SAILOR December-January-February | SUMMER 2025 We would hope that you continued using the system to log your flights. Logging your flights is not only a good practice but it is also a requirement under the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (see CASR 61.345). Hours flown are also reported by members at renewal time. The Member- ship Year (MY) runs from 1 September through to 31 August. From these two sources we can collate some information. However, neither source is completely free from noise and cannot be completely relied upon to make very detailed assess- ments or base important decisions upon them. In the case of the Online Logbook system, not everyone uses it. In the case of the reported hours, these may in some cases be under- or over-estimated. The following table includes the data from FY and MY 22/23, and from this we can see that there is an increase in the number of members using the Online Logbook system, but still represents a smaller proportion of the total number of hours flown that are declared by the total membership.
