SAFA Skysailor Magazine
29 July | August 2022 SKY SAILOR days might sound (and is!) very nerdy – well that’s me, but it is actually pretty exciting,” Hamish said. As the new representative, Steve Blenkinsop said he was looking for the chance to represent the Australian free flying community on the international stage in more than just a competitor’s role, with Australia having much to offer in our sport’s evolution and development. “I’m looking forward to working with an international team to promote competition in our sport and develop the exposure of our sport to the wider community,” Steve said. Steve has been hang gliding since 1977 and has competed in the sport for many years, including 10 FAI World Championships with a best placing of fifth. Additionally, he has held several FAI World records and appreciates the effort required to have these ratified. SAFA and all competition pilots owe Hamish a deep debt of gratitude and we all wish him well in his future endeavours. Steve ‘Blenky’ towing at Dalby Photo: Mike Zupanc, Peak Pictures
