8 SKY SAILOR July | August 2022 with the scoring in 2017 and Newcastle Club members Peter Beamish and Dan McKenna joined the organising team in 2018. 2019 was the first time the event was run as the ‘Gang of Four’, Peter, Dan and Rob with James as adviser. In 2020 Covid restrictions forced a last-min- ute cancellation, but the competition bounced back in 2021 with happy faces and no coughs by the end. 2022 was again a great success and we have begun planning for 2023. The three-day event ended in spectacular fashion with Godfrey’s traditional Sunday night bonfire.
