20 SKY SAILOR March | April 2023 her screeching at them while thermalling. James Wynd had his glider attacked which required some sail repair tape. After listening to a veteran pilot’s concerns about not being allowed to compete against novice pilots in floaters, HG Comps have intro- duced a new class; Floater V (Floater Veteran). It’s aimed at the older pilots who don’t wish to fly competition speed machines, but still want to come along and compete. Hopefully, next year more higher hour pilots will return to Corryong with their Floater gliders. The land owner prize was drawn and won by Neil Bennett from Colac Colac who assisted David Jackson after he landed in his paddock and broke his arm. The final day of competition was Saturday, 14 January with a presentation dinner at the Colac Colac Caravan Park thanks to Paul and Mellissa and the Corryong Rotary Club. Money raised at the mid-week auction/raffle was presented to Sharyn Nankervis from the Corryong Ambulance Service. An informal fly-in took place at Mt Beauty immediately following the Corryong Cup with many pilots attending to enjoy the change of scenery and flying in a new location. There was even a flight for several pilots from the famous Mt Buffalo launch.
