27 March | April 2023 SKY SAILOR So what was it that convinced Rich to try and conquer the world’s toughest adventure race after completing all of these incredible achievements? “During the seven-day X-Pyr last year, I walked around 300km with 16000m of elevation while sick with Covid,” he recalls. “The inspiration came from that positive Covid diagnosis – if I could do part of the X-Pyr with Covid, I realised I was more than capable of competing in the Red Bull X-Alps.” The route for this year’s Red Bull X-Alps will be announced on 15 March, with the race starting on 11 June.
