SAFA SkySailor Magazine
5 March | April 2024 SKY SAILOR I’m writing this short president’s report from Bright in North-Eastern Victoria. Today is the second day of two weeks of back-to-back paragliding competitions in Bright and Corryong. Every day I get to fly, I feel very fortunate to be part of our sport. Competition at the highest level like this is awesome, but so is a gentle evening soar at my local hill. One of the most striking things about at- tending events like this is how many people volunteer to make our flying experience safer and more enjoyable. We are very fortunate to have an aviation community full of pilots who help other pilots. I urge you to get involved if you have the capacity to volunteer, or at least, to support those who do. Your SAFA Board has lots of things on the agenda this year. In the coming months, we will help guide a review of our new Part 149 exposition. This needs to be simpler, and at the same time meet the expectations of CASA. We also have much work to do with our train- ing systems, and behind the scenes there is always the administrative work of keeping an organisation like SAFA running. If there are important things you want the SAFA Board to consider, then please write to me, contact your regional board member, or engage with us via the SAFA Official Forum Facebook group. By the time you are reading this, the paragliding competitions will be over for the season, but there is plenty more flying to be had no matter which of our disciplines you enjoy. Fly safe, and look after each other. Bright Open 2024 Photos: Brad Harris
