28 SKY SAILOR May | June 2021 New Products Nova X-Alps Xenon – New two-liner With the Xenon, Nova joins the ranks of two-liner manufac- turers for the first time. Certified LTF/EN D, Xenon has 65 cells with an aspect ratio of 6.7 (flat) and features continuous Nitinol rods in the upper surface. The completely newly developed glider promises to be competitive in glide and climb performance, but also has exceptionally easy launch and landing behaviour. Even in turbulent conditions the wing inspires confidence. Sizes 17 and 18 (all-up weight range 65-80kg, and 75-90kg, canopy weight 3.15 and 3.3kg) are certified. Two further sizes are in development. The first serial wings in sizes 17 and 18 are expected to be available from August. The competition and serial versions are identical. So far Théo de Blic (FRA), Nicola Donini (ITA) as well as Ken Oguma (JAP) have decided to fly the Xenon in this year’s X-Alps. A new harness, especially for the X-Alps, has also been designed: The radical new and very light Artus. The weight of the current prototype is only 1044 grams – including protec- tor, footplate, rescue container and soft-links! However, for robustness it will likely turn out to be slightly heavier for the actual competition... Find detailed info and news updates at www.nova.eu . Routine inspections have revealed a small number of these units have issues with the zipper. This may cause difficulty to extract the rescue. All owners of this product should inspect their rescue deck prior to their next flight, following the instructions below. How to proceed 1. Opening test First perform an opening test. If the rescue can be extracted without difficulty, the rescue deck is safe to fly with. If the rescue cannot be extracted without difficulty, or you are unsure, proceed to step 2. 2. Visual inspection Visually inspect the two zipper boxes. Both the boxes should be ‘U’ shaped as shown. If there is some burring or the part is thickened, the part is defective. In this case, please contact your Gin dealer who will inform you how to proceed. Download the PDF here . Gin Gliders The zipper is properly sanded The zipper is not sanded The zipper is badly sanded
