7 May | June 2023 SKY SAILOR Best in Fun Class was Rowan Beggs-French (Canberra) with a PB of 126km. Best woman was Anna Pruem (Germany) flying a 111km PB on her Fun Class glider. Results: 1st Luke Beresford (AUS, Advance Sigma 11, Sport (up to EN-C), 183 points); 2nd Ramon Collodetti (AUS, Advance Iota DLS, Sport, 169.8 points); 3rd Lukas Vymetal (CZ, Zeno2, Comp (EN-D/CCC/2-liners), 161 points). Days 2, 3 and 4 After two months of no rain, as luck would have it, a trough moved through the region from the west, providing stormy weather for Days 2 and 3. There wasn’t much actual rain locally (4mm), but the overdeveloped clouds resulted in no flying except for some late afternoon short ones back to HQ. Many pilots went to Tamworth to enjoy the last day of the Country Music Festival. A deep dive talk on Atmospheric Physics, by resident instructor Karl Levy, was also well attended. Day 4 (Tuesday 24th) looked promising, but stronger NW winds clearing the trough proved too much for most of the pilots. Only 15 managed to take off in a short window A great start on Day 1 Photos: Godfrey Wenness
