SAFA Skysailor Magazine

11 November | December 2021 SKY SAILOR Our journey started with a flight from Sydney to Adelaide before a 1500km monot- onous drive to Border Village. The town of Kimba, halfway between the east and west coasts of Australia, is where the talented Mel- bourne artist Cam Scale spent weeks painting impressive giant artworks on grain silos, 25m tall, stretching to 60m wide. We overnighted at Ceduna, the coastal gateway to the Nullarbor and the last major settlement before crossing the Nullarbor on the Eyre highway, four times the size of Belgium. The highway here is used as an actual airstrip for emergencies. An oasis on the remote Nullarbor Plain provides a break from the endless straight road, petrol refills and whale tours Below: Kimba’s silos, 200km from Ceduna, feature amazing artwork by Cam Scale Photos: Tony Sandeberg Bitten by the Bight
