SAFA Skysailor Magazine

20 SKY SAILOR November | December 2021 What will the funding be used for? Who will it benefit? The funding will be used to benefit the National female flying community across sports aviation disciplines, from beginner pilots through to advanced pilots, as well as introducing new female pilots into our sports. Some of the initiatives include tow endorsements; re-engagement of lapsed pilot clinics; VHF endorsements; SIV clinics; coastal and inland flying skill development clinics; intro to comp flying clinics; come and try PG and HG initiatives (aimed at attracting new female pilots into the sports); ‘Stepping Up for Women in Flight’ initiative (helping facilitate greater female leadership participation in our sports); and a ‘Grounded, Still Handling Challenge’ – a ground handling challenge to help pilots stay engaged, current and build skill and knowledge during COVID and various lockdown restrictions faced in different parts of the country. To support the continuing development of a strong female pilot network across the whole of Australia, the NSWHPA graciously extends access to grant initiatives to all current female SAFA pilots. Through payment of the annual $50 NSW Pilot Sport Development fee, which NSW pilots currently pay, interstate pilots will have equitable access to the grant initiatives to facilitate lifelong learning, strengthened friend- ships, connection, education and mentorship across the entire flying community. As well as the benefits to the female flying community, the grant will also bring economic benefits to the sports’ many instructors, clubs, flying sites and associated businesses across NSW. Any last comments? We would like to thank everyone who has supported us along our journey so far, The Women beneath our Wings
