SAFA Skysailor Magazine
4 SKY SAILOR November | December 2022 Part 149 Progress By the time members read this edition of SkySailor, SAFA will have made its submission (called an Exposition) to CASA to become a Part 149 organisation. Getting to this point has been an enormous undertaking and I would like members to be aware of the sustained commitment made, over a long time, by all our staff and by Safety Management Officer Iain Clarke in particular. This year has been challenging for our staff. The task of meeting the 2nd of December Part 149 deadline, and the changes brought about by our company restructure earlier in the year, required adjustment and diligence, but they have all responded in excellent fashion. SAFA Board member and, until recently, Acting COO Mark Pike, has also been a sig- nificant contributor. His analytical mind and relentless task organisation has facilitated this successful outcome and perfectly com- plemented Iain’s very important work. Thanks also to those members who responded to the surveys that contributed to this outcome. Your input was invaluable and greatly appreciated. Getting our Exposition to CASA is not the end of the process. CASA will now review our work and advise over the next few months of any additional fine-tuning or documentation that they may require. CASA is a federal regulator, and we can expect this review to President’s Update by Paul Green
