SAFA Skysailor Magazine
9 November | December 2022 SKY SAILOR We all gained much from the trip. Apart from the pride of representing Australia, for some it was getting back into international comps and rising to the challenge of flying against the best. In addition, for Tony Cross it was an excellent first taste of flying overseas, getting in at the deep end. For me, it was a step in my rehabilitation after a car vs bike accident in 2019. A huge thanks to Alan Bond for getting himself there as our driver. He impressed us all biking up the gruelling track to launch in the heat to get to the car. Pete Burkitt is thanked for finding storage for four gliders and driving them to Germany. They are there, ready for the next big adventure. The Aussies had the pleasure of taking in Corinna Schwieg- ershausen and Akira Nagusa, both pilots without team support. They joined us with input for pre-launch briefings and at team meals. Ours was a privately organised ‘team’ and we hope to be able to encourage and support other pilots, whatever wings they fly, to get overseas for competitions. Craig, Nils and Trent did a presentation on the Euros for the NSWHPA recently, and we are all available to talk as suitable opportunities arise. Interested in a club talk? Contact Steve via email .
