14 SKY SAILOR November | December 2024 Task setting was more complex than normal, and the task committee of Matts Ellison and Ian McFarlane performed a great job of em- bracing the concept. Small pilots really enjoyed turning early as their larger friends had to go deeper into the cylinder. Three tasks, using Tamborine and Hinch- cliffe launches, were possible during the week. Races of between 35 and 55 kilometres in varying conditions saw between a quarter and half of the field in goal each day. Our first task off the Tamborine launch saw a triangle set to the Breaded Dragon pub. Eight made goal, and New Zealand pilot Ross Johnston made the most of some buoyant convergence lines to win the day. Canungra Spandicup Competition
