27 November | December 2024 SKY SAILOR News Inaugural FAI Junior Paragliding Championship The 1st FAI Junior World Paragliding Champi- onship was held from 18 to 31 August 2024 in Tolmin, Slovenia. Seventy-six participants, 16 to 26 years old, from 20 countries competed. The competition used two take-offs: Kobala with flights over Soca Valley, and Lijak located near Gorizia. Tasks were mainly cat’s cradle, 60km on average. For many pilots, it was a first change to race along the mountain ridges, but the leaders already knew the game well. The general level of competitors was very high, and interestingly, the majority started flying because their parents were also paraglider pilots! Visit www.fai.org/news for more.
