I only got my PG2 a few months ago and am just about to hit double digit hours and was shitting myself being that far up, but felt comfortable jumping into an adventure with such an experienced and patient flight buddy.” This was typical feedback from the four-day event. In 2022, I completed a task and made goal for the first time. This year, I pushed more, scratched more, flew faster, and made goal twice, refining my flying skills even more! GfG23 was another great learning experience, a reminder of the basics we all tend to forget, and the huge part our mental preparedness plays in how much we achieve when we go flying. Plus, I got to spend a bunch of time in the company of great people! If you are a low airtime pilot or are thinking of trying out comp flying (and if you can make it to Corryong), or you just want to develop your flying skills to fly much more XC, I cannot recommend this experience too highly. Let’s hope that this format continues to grow. Bring on GfG24! ‘Thank you’ is not enough to the wonderful, giving pilots who organise this event.
