9 November | December 2024 SKY SAILOR Achieving worldwide recognition and respect for his hands-on commitment to his ideas, Bill built a successful, long and vibrant life with and from the most important ingredients: His family, community and his love of flying. The family business of Moyes Gliders became another trailblazing effort, and Bill remained involved, interested and active in all of these. Bill’s contributions to the sport of hang gliding are numerous – both tangible and intangible, and defined and inspired the sport and pilots in Australia and around the world. As an uncompromising and unapologetic adventurer, experimenter and mentor, Bill touched many lives and inspired many other feats by his example. Bill passed away on 24 September 2024, surrounded by his family. Bill’s life was celebrated, and farewelled, by family and friends on 1 October 2024 at Bronte Beach – he will always be part of the people, community, water and sky he touched throughout his life.
