6 SKY SAILOR September | October 2023 The 26th annual Pico Fly-in will be held at Milbrulong from 14 to 17 September 2023. It is an event for foot launched powered paragliders, wheel-based powered paragliders, aerochutes and powered hang gliders. Hot air balloons are also welcome. The basic criteria is ‘if people think you are mad because of what you fly, you are in!’ The official start is midday Thursday, and the event finishes Sunday at midday. Flying before or after is like all year round at this site – always available. If you come early, you will also be roped into helping to get ready. Camping is the go. There is a large area of grass on the Milbrulong Recreation Ground (Google knows where that is). There are showers, toilets, gas BBQ, and a hall, and electricity for those who get there early enough. This year it won’t be wet and boggy like last year! The water is good for drinking. The alternative is the Lockhart Motel (02 6920 5357) or the caravan park (0458 205 305). The registration and camping costs $100 and includes three nights camping, Saturday night dinner and the welcome BBQ in Jeff’s shed after flying on Thursday evening. Breakfast will be available on launch. Partners can stay for an additional $50, young kids stay for free, extra nights camping cost $10.
