13 SPRING 2025 | September-October-November SKY SAILOR On a day when the cloudbase was below the hill and the chances of flying were close to nil. A lone pilot was setting up in fog – Rory Duncan. When asked why, he replied, “I came to fly and I came to win, why wouldn’t I set up?” Jonny Durand had a rare stumble in Task 1, but came roaring back. On Task 2, he took the bold line, led for much of the day, and bagged the most leading points of the task. Finishing 11th overall, he proved his veteran value. Whenever needed, Jonny stepped up, took control of the situation, and guided the team. Scott Barrett will be remembered for years for Day 5: He flew a flawless race to earn one of the only perfect 1000- point scores of the comp. Finishing 15th overall, he lit a fire under the team’s morale. Scott’s experience, insights and perspectives always provide an alternative approach to winning on any day. Craig Taylor in his first Worlds contrib- uted with consistent and tactical flying. Finishing 47th overall, Craig’s never-give-up attitude backed up the leaders with consis- tent support and he was always ready to chase goal when the team needed it.
