SAFA Skysailor Magazine
21 SPRING 2025 | September-October-November SKY SAILOR During Tour 2, I flew 266km from four sites, with 20 hours of airtime, and 13 launches over nine days. Although the tours are 10 days, sometimes there is just nowhere flyable within range. This didn’t dampen pilots’ spirits, and chasing each other down the mountain on the toboggan run at Serles was a real hit, as where mountain walks to spectacular waterfalls and craggy razoredge pinnacles or hidden valleys, followed by lashings of hot vanilla sauce on delicious strudel in traditional huts afterwards. To prevent fatigue, R&R took a break between Tour 2 and 3, and I took the opportunity to travel to and explore Salzburg for a day. It’s easy to appreciate how beautiful Innsbruck is, with original buildings dating back centuries without the impact WW2 bombing has had in other cities, such as Salzburg or Munich. For non-flying partners, the Stubai card gave access to free gondolas, bus and light rail in the valley, allowing for many inter- esting and easily accessible activities.
