My hang gliding compe- tition experience should also serve me well when I tackle gliding comps more seriously. Already gliding is deepening my appreciation of energy management, and glide lines in ways that enhance my free- flight performance. Fibreglass or dacron, foot launch or aerotow, mountains or airfields – it all comes down to the same thing: the joy of staying aloft, reading the invisible rivers of the sky, sharing the day with like-minded souls that have me coming back for more.
