SAFA Skysailor Magazine
54 SKY SAILOR September-October-November | SPRING 2025 Women in Flight by Carol Liang This is the first in a new series profiling women in our sport: sharing their stories, perspectives, and the different ways they experience paragliding. The idea came directly out of conversations with female pilots who told me how much it means to see other women represented, not just as new pilots, or tandem passengers, but as experienced, passionate pilots shaping our community. Not all women fly or think the same way, but more diversity of voices makes our community stronger. I first met Kirsten Seeto on an all-women Tow Safari back in 2022, where I was the novice among a group of gun XC pilots. I was blown away by the group’s knowledge and determination, their style of team-flying, debriefing, and the mutual support. It also kicked off my obsession with XC and taught me things I continue to carry into my flying today. Kirsten has nearly two decades of flying experience behind her, has flown all over Kirsten Seeto on competition flying, facing fears, community and culture
