36 SKY SAILOR September-October-November | SPRING 2026 the evening, a fantastic BBQ, beers, and another (hilarious) Presidential speech were enjoyed by all at the Canungra HPC clubhouse. In the quieter moments, around the fire or just in a corner of launch, the real magic of a mentoring event happened. Experi- ence was passed on, numbers shared and links made between club members, LAPs and pilots from elsewhere. In the modern age, where learning, gaining experience, and fledging is so heavily controlled and regulated these exchanges are invaluable if we are to sustain and grow the sport with new participants.
