58 SKY SAILOR September-October-November | SPRING 2026 Club Bulletin – September 2026 Equipment Maintenance Got some spare time? As we move into Spring, it is a great time to encourage your club members to catch up on some equipment maintenance. When were those risers last checked? Sidewires replaced? Air filters changed? Reserve parachutes repacked? No matter whether your club operates paragliders, PPG, hang gliders, weightshift microlights, PHG, or all the above, we can all become a little distracted by the daily rhythm of life and forget to do that critical safety maintenance. Your club might like to organise some maintenance sessions, parachute repacks or swing and flings. Our Pilots and Partnerships Our sports become successful, fun and safe, through the efforts of our many members, each doing their bit to con- tribute and watch out for one another. Whether that includes organising fly away weekends, dealing with land owners, volunteering as club officers, duty pilots, safety officers, AIRS managers, running a competition, or simply doing a little site maintenance, it all adds to our combined success. SAFA, the Regional Associations and your affiliated Club are the key partnerships that provide the framework for our family of pilots to operate in Australia. Flying safely is fundamental to our shared passion for the beauty, exhilaration and joy of flight. It takes all of us to make this happen. If your members have questions, or thoughts that could make our sports safer and even better, please reach out, contact your Regional Associations, the SAFA board members, the office or a member of the Operations team. The contact details are below and listed on the SAFA website. Club Resources ‘Online Tools for Clubs’, including pilot membership and qualification checks, are available in the December club bulletin. ‘Club Affiliation’ and ‘Flying Site Resourc- es’, including useful document links are available in the March club bulletin.
