34 SKY SAILOR December-January-February | SUMMER 2025/2026 Red Bull X-Alps Challenger 2026 – Mayrhofen: A new chapter The Red Bull X-Alps Challenger brings the spirit of the world’s toughest adventure race to a three-day event designed to test, inspire and prepare the next generation of adventure athletes. Taking place from May 28 to 31 in Mayrhofen, Austria, the Red Bull X-Alps, participants will be tested across four de- manding disciplines: trail running, hiking, mountaineering and paragliding. While the X-Alps spans two weeks across the Alps, the Challenger condenses into an intense three-day format. Each day brings a unique learning opportunity, with workshops led by X-Alps veterans sharing their tactical knowledge, technical skills, and inspiration. Local athlete Benedikt Dornauer, who finished 15th in 2025, said: “... shorter but still demanding – you get a real taste of what the race is like.
