40 SKY SAILOR December-January-February | SUMMER 2025/2026 something technical, maybe A to B, maybe exploring a ridge I haven’t flown before. One of my dream lines is to fly from Buffalo to Feathertop to Bogong and down to Omeo. At the end of the day, I really enjoy flying under the radar, going on unique adventures, and also sharing the experience with my partner. Can you tell me about your Mystic hike & fly record? How did that day come about? Women in Flight: Irene Weijers It actually started pretty casually. One day I, Remy and Lucas talked about Mystic and wondered what the record was. We found out someone had done eight laps (I think it was Ash) and that kind of planted the seed in my head. That year I was really fit. I’d been working for the forestry people, so I was hiking a lot, and I’d also done a 100km ultra. So I thought, ‘Okay, maybe I try and see what happens.’ On the day, I started really early, my first flight was around 6:17 in the morning, and then I just kept going! I only had about 20 minutes of break time all day. Fly down,
