14 SKY SAILOR June-July-August | WINTER 2025 way to the airport the radio was silent – the others had already landed. • Airtime: 54 minute • Distance: 56.5nm • Average speed: 62.7kt Day 4: Friday Overnight we had some rain. On the nearby fence our trike covers dripped dry and flapped in the 8kt wind crossing the airfield. A work commitment had our road warrior break down his trike ready to trailer back home. We won’t be flying this morning and decided to go to Camperdown for great coffee and a good breakfast at the bakery. Lisa and I, with two others, decided to visit Timboon where they have a great whiskey distillery. We can testify the distillery is a fine establishment and the Timboon ice creamery met all taste expectations. Back at the airport, some decided not to fly. However, Lisa and I donned our flying suits and we were off heading to the coast. Near the town of Peterborough, we made our turn westwards over the Bay of Islands. There was broken cloud cover over the coast line as far as we could see. I decided to fly at or below the broken Apostles and Shipwreck Coast fly-over Photos: A Batson and Olivia
