15 WINTER 2025 | June-July-August SKY SAILOR cloud formations. On our right, the land was littered with large pot holes, like grass bunkers on a golf course. Many of these had water in them and were formed by past volcanic activity. We flew over Flaxman Hill, part of the coast line and not much of a hill at 180ft, but I later learned it is an official launch for hang- and paragliders. Below, we passed over a nice stretch of beach with the innovative name of three-mile beach. With the sun setting and the skies covered in broken dark clouds, little remaining sun- light broke through. In the distance we saw Logans Beach whale watching platform without a whale in sight. I am conscious of the 10kt headwind on our return and a setting sun so decided to turn for home as we passed over Rifle Range Lookout, just 14km south-east of Warrnambool. We overflew Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory. A 30-minute flight back to Cobden and we were on final. Another great day. • Airtime: 60 minutes • Distance: 59.4nm • Average speed: 59.4kt Day 5: Saturday As forecasted, the wind picked up – a non flying day. However, the Cobden Flying Club Lunchtime Barbecue is a regular club During Flight #4 Photos: Dean
