16 SKY SAILOR June-July-August | WINTER 2025 BBQ at the airfield and we are invited to join. We appreciated catching up with the locals and sharing many a flying story. Day 6: Sunday We head home today, but to maximise my visit, I flew over the Apostles one more time with our trailer driver in the back seat. Cloud cover was at 1900ft, with only 5kt of headwind. This early, there is no helicopter traffic and the first time I have flown along this coast without the sun beaming directly into my eyes. It was my third trip over the Apostles and this can never be boring. I love it. After an hour’s flight we approached the airport, glad we made the effort to get in an extra flight before leaving Cobden. • Airtime: 1hour 6 minutes • Distance: 61.8nm • Average speed: 56.1kt The clubhouse was left clean and with a donation for the use of its facilities. Our volunteer trailer driver was packed up and we said good-bye. Our first stop was Cressy Airfield. After departure we soon passed Camperdown once again and made our way to the slither of land between Lake Corangamite and Lake Gnarpurt. The main road to Ballarat passes along this route.
