4 SKY SAILOR June-July-August | WINTER 2025 President’s Update by Alistair Dickie As winter bites in the southern states, and many Australian pilots hibernate, it’s great to experience flying vicariously. On the other side of the world summer thermals are pumping over the European Alps. It has been inspiring to watch Shane Tighe compete in and finish the Red Bull X-Alps. Mate, you’ve done us all proud – thanks for taking us along for the ride and showing the world what Aussie pilots are made of. Back home I have a few comings and goings to fill you in on. First up, Belinda O’Connor has provid- ed administrative support to most SAFA pilots since 2019. She recently decided to spread her wings elsewhere. We thank her for everything she has done behind the scenes and wish her well. On the bright side, our search for support in our operations and training roles has been successful. We have two great pilots with depth of experience and connection to our flying community.
