Ensuring that we have the framework to support schools and pilot progression is a strategic priority that Phil is super qualified to get after. Rohan Taylor will be starting as our new Operations Manager in early August. With extensive experience in hang gliding and paragliding he will be a real asset to our community. We’re also saying farewell to a couple of our volunteer board members – Stefanie Becker from South Queensland and Carl Haynes from Tasmania have stepped down from their Affiliate Director roles. Serving the Board takes time and energy, and I thank them both personally for helping other pilots. Consequently, we welcome Matts Eliasson and Paul Sciberras new Affiliate Directors to replace them. Another recent change has been a new approach for our media and commu- nications. Maria from Sustainable Market- ing has been fantastic over the years, but we’ve brought Carol Liang from The Ad Agency on board to refresh our strategic communications from a pilot’s perspective. We’re also seeing some fresh faces volunteer for our Safety and Training Committee and Competitions Committee. All this behind-the-scenes stuff might not be front of mind when you’re searching for lift, but it’s what enables us to fly. We are all looking forward to the new season.
