SAFA Skysailor Magazine

7 AUTUMN 2026 | March-April-May SKY SAILOR goal. This meant spectators, drivers and pilots had somewhere to sit other than the ground! They also generously funded all the competition T-shirts and hoodies for this year. HG Comps is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to the advance- ment of hang gliding by encouraging low airtime novice pilots to attend competi- tions and improve their flying skills, help older pilots, who have perhaps been out of the sport for a while or are just not comfortable flying their high performance gliders any longer, to get back into and to stay in the sport – the ‘Floater V’ category has been the fastest growing category in the competition. Once again, our meet head this year was the most entertaining Brett Huggan, with the addition of a microphone and PA amp, with Phillip Campbell as competition direc- tor, Tushar Pokle – scorer, Andy Schmidt – IT and launch marshall, Randall Clotworthy – launch SSO, and Tracey Meyer – First Aid and media liaison, as well as general cat herder. Helpers included, but were not limited to, Dr Craig Taylor (weatherman), Darcy Kirkaldy (official photographer) and Neil Hook (safety matters). Photos: Darcy Kirkaldy
