9 AUTUMN 2026 | March-April-May SKY SAILOR committee (Neil Hook, Vic Hare, John Harriet). The subsequent weather briefing from Dr Craig Taylor (DRC) saw the day cancelled due to expected over-develop- ment threatening unsafe conditions. Task 1 on 5 January spelled ‘DISASTER’! After the pilot briefing at Attree Park, we arrived at the goal paddock to top-up the ice in the goal esky only to discover that it had been stolen along with four camp chairs and our rubbish bin! Another hour was spend driving around sourcing a replacement esky and frosty beverages for our pilots. The first open task had five turnpoints and a distance of 78.9km. About a third of the open field made it around the course to the new goal paddock. The floater task was 24.7km with two turnpoints before goal. Conditions on launch got rather strong later in the day, which saw launch closed for some time. Many pilots packed up on the hill. No floater pilots made goal, but the best distance was flown by Jakota Cummings, a novice floater pilot, making the first turnpoint. Photos: Darcy Kirkaldy
