SAFA Skysailor Magazine

31 January | February 2022 SKY SAILOR I can’t believe our next course will be our 50th and we are really hoping to celebrate this milestone at Strathalbyn next year. Anyone interested in attending will need to make sure their name is on my waiting list, as well as anyone wanting to come back for a Refresher. Numbers will be restricted. As a venue, Strathalbyn was a latecomer for our courses. We started the courses in Sep- tember 2012 but our first at Strathalbyn wasn’t until November 2014. We soon had a waiting list and were able to hold two courses per year until the pandemic took hold and prevented interstate travel. However, considering that Strathalbyn is our only venue in South Austra- lia, we have now completed 13 courses there, placing SA in the lead over QLD, NSW and WA who are all at 10 with VIC bringing up the rear having hosted six courses to date. All other states than SA have had multiple venues each. Once more, thanks to the Southern Districts Flying Club (SDFC) and especially CFI Larry, who freely donates his time and facilities and makes it possible for us to continue. Hopefully we will see you again in 2022, for our 50th. Our next Sport Aviation/Rotax Maintenance Course dates are 9 to 10 April 2022, to be held at Strathalbyn, SA.
