SAFA Skysailor Magazine

30 SKY SAILOR January | February 2022 talk on how to keep engines running smoothly. Afterwards we all went to the hangars to look at some of the aircraft there and see what we could pick up. It was a very interesting exercise with various questions from our attendees. A lot of those who turned up for the work- shop were previous course attendees, so we were able to discuss some of the changes since their last experience, as well as complete inspections of their own aircraft. After the workshop finished with a lovely lunch back at the club rooms, we went back to the hangar to run Jim, Bill and Cat through a differential pressure check on their very shiny Gyro which has the 915iS engine. A couple of attendees remained there, so were able to have a go as well. It was a very enjoyable time and we were very lucky with the changeable spring weather. A few chilly starts for the first course, but a very warm day on the second! We had some great feed- back after and during the workshops and it was great to hear that people thought the courses were both relevant and worthwhile. The feedback indicated that maintenance standards were going to improve and in particular, record keeping, which was very encouraging. We were scheduled to return to Strathalbyn for another course in November, but after running two courses, we did not have enough people for the dates available, so made the de- cision to postpone until next year. Provisional dates at this stage are 9–10 April (the weekend before Easter). Strathalbyn Rotax Maintenance course
