20 SKY SAILOR January | February 2022 With the seemingly consistent approach of the east coast’s weather to complicate local paragliding trips around NSW, the offer to take a trip to Thailand and paraglide a new spot (for me) was an easy undertaking… Postcard flying from the land of smiles by Luke Teong A tropical four-day holiday was locked in with a mate working in Bangkok. We had originally planned to head to Khao Yai and check out what paragliding options it had, however, we were informed by multiple sources that we would be crazy not to check out Koh Larn as it was the middle of the season there and out of season for Khao Yai…Trust the locals! Situated 20-minute speed boat ride from the lights of Pattaya is a small island called Koh Larn. The island is approximately 4.5km long and 2km wide with the highest point at 180m. The island is mainly covered in heavy vegetation with some of the ‘main roads’ being wide enough for two motorbikes to pass each other.
