14 SKY SAILOR December-January-February | SUMMER 2025 by Vicki Cain The October long weekend was set to host a Team Challenge in Forbes, though with strong winds forecast, it was uncertain whether the event would go ahead. Refusing to give in to doubt, we rallied to ensure it did! Despite losing a few participants, those who stayed committed had an incredible time, proving that dedication and adaptability make for unforgettable experiences. Given the windy conditions, traditional cross-country flights weren’t feasible, so with the support of CFI Peter Holloway, we re-imagined the event into a take-off and landing clinic. We encouraged everyone to practise towing with 500ft tows, followed by basic aircraft landing approaches and spot landings.
