15 SUMMER 2025 | December-January-February SKY SAILOR All photos: Supplied courtesy of Vicki Cain of pilots’ launches and landings, providing valuable feedback and memories. The first day was a wash-out due to rain, but spirits remained high. That evening, we gathered at the aeroclub to enjoy a home-cooked welcome meal. Knowing winds would pick up by 10am on subse- quent days, we started early, setting up at 6am and flying from 7am until conditions forced us to stop or when everyone was exhausted, whichever came first! Over three days, we achieved a remark- able 60 plus tows per day. Some pilots even managed XC flights on two of the days. This was made possible by the tire- less efforts of tug pilots Steve McCarthy, Marco Carelli, and John ‘Blaino’ Blain, and the committed leadership of team leaders Jonny Durand, Steve Docherty, Steve Crosby, and Steve Blenkinsop, and the never-ending support from my hubby Greg! Molly Moyes baked us her famous ‘day win’ macadamia choc chip cookies, awarded to those closest to the spot each day. Nicole Forrester took out the title of ‘Cookie Monster’.
